BGHS Bobcat Band Newsletter

Bobcat Band Blast 2/27/2010

  1. Our OMEA District Contest performance times arrived yesterday, on the snow day, so our students have not yet seen these;  please share within your families.  We received our 1st choice, which was for both bands to perform Friday, March 12 to avoid conflicts for our band/choir students.
At Sylvania Southview, Friday, March 12:

5:30 PM  BGHS Concert Band, Mr. Landry
7:45 PM  BGHS  Symphonic Band, Mrs. Smith

Bobcat Band Blast 2/22/10

From the Bobcat Band Booster Executive Board:    It would be greatly appreciated if students and parents would make every effort possible to get their band accounts current.  At this time, there are over 30% of our families who have not made any payment towards their annual uniform fee of $50.00/family/year.

Midwinter Update

Dear Parents of the Underclassmen of the Bobcat Band:

As we find ourselves deep into the “winter season” of our band year, we send this message as both an update and as a ”‘thank you” to our students and parents.

Bobcat Band Blast 2/8/2010

  1. Thanks to: Robyn Moellenberg and Pam Morris for their work on next fall’s marching band uniform inventory.  We have a great start toward 2010-2011!

  2. Practicing:  With TWO important performances in the next 4 weeks, we cannot encourage home practice enough!  There are “sectional” practices coming here at school – but, home practice is never a waste!  We are working very hard to put our “best foot forward”  during the month of March!

  3. Jazz Band:  We are postponing, in consideration of the incoming weather. We will try to meet FRIDAY, Feb. 12 at 7:00 am, instead of Wednesday, our usual day.

  4. Pep Bands: This week-end are the last 2 regularly scheduled pep bands for the 2009-2010 basketball season.  We are planning to perform on both Friday and Saturday evenings. Stay tuned for information regarding any make-up games.

Bobcat Band Blast - January 14, 2010

Happy New Year!  We hope that your families enjoyed some rest and recreation during our recent break.   Although school has recently resumed, we are off to a fast start, as you will read below:

High School Solo & Ensemble Event – Saturday, January 23, all day @ Perrysburg HS. Most of the band students (other than a small number with personal conflicts) are involved in one or more special numbers on this day.  Hopefully, your student took his/her instrument home over the holidays, as nearly all of the music was issued before break.   We have a record number of events – 85 – in all!

The details include:
