BGHS Bobcat Band Newsletter - 9/10/2009

Bobcat Band Weekly News
September 10, 2009

  1. THANKS:  To Elaine Albright & others for their work on the Band Coupon Book sale.
Hopefully every family has purchased their own book, one for the car, one for a co-worker, one for the paper girl or boy, one for the babysitter…….you get the idea!  (Many Bobcat Band student teachers have worked their way through coupon books over the years!)  Money can be turned in tomorrow, Friday, before 1st period.

  2. BGHS vs. Napoleon:  Itinerary will appear in a separate e-mail; paper copies are available in the HS Instrumental Room. This is our only 7:30 PM kick-off of the season; however, the travel time and rehearsal time needed with our host, the Napoleon Band, will necessitate a 4:45 PM call-time.  We are sharing the field with their band for the half-time finale, God Bless the USA.

  3. THANKS #2:  to all who are assisting with chaperoning, concession stands, uniforms.  We couldn’t begin to do this without your support!

  4. HEALTH FORMS:   Each band student is responsible to turn in an ORANGE health form, which were passed out and/or mailed in August.  We MUST have those to permit travel. Call Mr. Landry @ 419.354-0100, x 1153 if there are any health form questions. As of today, almost FORTY STUDENTS  are late!

  5. THANKS #3:  Uniform Maintenance Fees:    To all families who have remitted their $50.00 uniform maintenance fee – we thank you!  This fee covers all dry cleaning, replacement of buttons, zippers, trims, hat straps, medallions - the list is endless!   The fee also covers our formal wear & tuxes for the concert season, which will begin in November.  Checks should be made payable to: BGHS Band Boosters.

  6. LOOKING AHEAD:   Home games for the next 2 weeks – Eighth Grade Band to join us on 9/25/09!  September 26 performance @ BGSU – no further details yet, but the Thriller dance looks like great fun!

  7. THANKS #4:  To Band Treasurer Emily Smith for her great work in running the Band Store! Remember to pay your debts by the end of the quarter!

  8. CONCERT SEASON AUDITIONS:  Band placement and seating audition season starts Monday, 9/21/09 with the Flutes in grades 10-12.  Everyone plays a once-a-year solo audition so that the directors can hear how much improvement has been made over the past year.  In the case of freshmen, so we can get to know you better!  These are after school and/or evening times; allow 30-50 for each appointment.  Auditions count as 25% of the first nine-weeks grade.
