By alandry - Posted on 10 September 2010

Bobcat Band Families: As of today, September 10, here is the information we have regarding BGSU Band Day.  We will try to put the BGSU parking information on the web, as we are able.

  • Some information, especially concerning a weather “Plan B” will be sent out next week, as we get closer to the actual event.
  • Student dismissal sign-up will happen the week of Band Day and lists of students staying for the entire game or going home after halftime will be posted on the website.

Itinerary for BGSU vs. Marshall Game

2:30PM: Arrive in parking lot at the Doyt. Students/Parents to provide own transportation.  White truck will bring sousa & percs.

3:00-4:15 PM: Massed Band rehearsal in stadium.

4:15-5:30 PM: Dinner break. Chaperones will walk Bobcats to the local food emporia (Wendy’s, McDonalds, Tim Horton’s etc.) Bring some $.

5:45 PM: Back to the white truck: prepare instruments & uniforms to perform.

6:00-6:15PM: HS Bands enter the Stadium. There are specific seats for us.

6:40 PM: FMB (Falcon Marching Band) presents pre-game.

7:00 PM: Kickoff-BGSU vs. Marshall

8:30 PM: (approx): Half-time! FMB performs alone, first.  Bohemian Rhapsody Combined Bands:   I Gotta Feeling, Forward Falcons,  Aye Ziggy Zoomba

Our dismissal pattern, as we established for the Band Day in 2009:

  1. Half-time over – we return ALL sousaphones and percussion equipment to white truck.  Truck departs for Bishop Road.  Everyone has 2 choices for the end of the game. Students must sign up with the band directors as to their intentions for the evening. (This is pre-selected and cannot be changed on game day).
  2. Students will choose one of the following:

A: Stay for the second half of game – you may stay & watch the game. Chaperones will walk with you to the parking lot.

B: Depart for home as soon as the half-time performance has concluded. Parents should plan to pick students up across the street at BURGER KING (East Wooster). One or more of us will escort students there after half-time.

  • The list of students who will stay until the end of the game and the students that will leave after half-time will appear on our website and in the band room.
  • You will be responsible for your instrument and uniform. Please return uniforms to BGHS on Monday, September 20.
  • PLEASE-Don’t ask us for ANY changes to the pre-selected student dismissal plan, in the parking lot, in the dark!  This is too risky for all concerned!  Please do all you can to plan ahead.
