Bobcat Band Blast - September 8, 2010
- THANKS: To all who chaperoned the first 2 games; to those who are working concessions this Friday; to those working with the first night of “real” uniforms; to those chaperoning at home this week!
- ITINERARY: For this week - was available during rehearsal this morning. It will be web-available AS SOON AS YOU SEE THIS BLAST.
- THURSDAY NIGHT: We need all available band students (not engaged in a game, meet, etc.) at 6:30 tomorrow evening. The entire freshmen class is missing all of band tomorrow morning for a class meeting – which will leave them only one more day to review Pre-Game and refine the new segments of Half-time. With only a 4-day week as it is, we need all students not previously engaged around the district to rehearse in the evening. (We rarely ask for an extra marching rehearsal – some of our neighboring schools use 1-4 days every week! We thank you in advance so that we can make this Friday’s special event a gift to our community.)
- FULL UNIFORMS: Tomorrow night we will dress in full uniform, rehearse in uniform, then proceed to the stadium for pre-game. Upperclassmen – find those gloves, shorts, socks, etc. Replacement gloves are $5.00/pair – 1st pair to freshmen are free. Details on the itinerary page.
- BGSU BAND DAY: Saturday, September 18. Itinerary will be available within hours of this posting. We receive our information from both the BGHS Band office and the Athletic Department. As soon as we integrate these 2 sources, the itinerary will be on-line. Next week, you will be asked to sign a form stating your preference: your studentstays at the game until the end OR your student may leave after half-time. We will make charperones available based upon these responses.
- Dr. Tim Leadership Workshop: Next Monday, September 13, the Bobcat Band student officers and reps, along with staff, will participate in the annual “Dr. Tim” Lautzenheiser workshop at Whitmer HS. Those students have already been provided with the details.
- HONORS’ OPPORTUNITIES: Students may elect to audition for the following Honors Groups: OMEA Northwest Ohio Regional Orchestra, live auditions are Sunday, September 26; performance is Dec. 5. There are specific musical selections required; these were discussed in class. If your students missed the information, have him/her see Mrs. Smith. Application deadline is September 17. Students who are selected will be sponsored by the Bobcat Band Boosters.
