- End of Marching Season: Thanks to all for your contributions to a successful fall! It was wonderful to see such a large crowd for our end-of-season concert!
- Calendar: This is a MUCH less busy time of year – two major events for the next few weeks:
- Saturday, November 21 Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce Holiday Parade
- Sunday, December 6 Holiday Band Concert, grades 9-12
- FORMAL WEAR: From Janet Hammersmith, chair person of Band Formalwear:
Help is needed to assist the band members look their finest on concert day. There’s only a few concerts, so I’ll need help with all dates, or just one if you can volunteer the time. If you’d be willing to help make sure they’re polished to perfection (separate dressing rooms for guys and girls, so we need men and women), please contact:
Janet Hammersmith 419-352-8590 – evenings & weekends or leave a message with name and phone number and I’ll get back with you Thank you! - OMEA District 1 Honors Band: Applications and audition instructions will be available this week for interested students. The process is different from the JH Honors Band – for the HS band, all students must apply AND record an audition to submit. There basically are the same number of spots available as there are in the JH band; however, there are 4 grades competing for admission, not just 2 grades. We will make ourselves available to help record auditions during the weeks of Dec. 7-11 and Dec. 14-18. Materials are due to the event chair December 18.
- Solo & Ensemble Event: Saturday, January 23 @ Perrysburg HS. Our plans are that all students will participate in this opportunity, either as a soloist or in a small group (ensemble). Registration will be due at the end of this semester (December 18). High School S & E has a required music list – if your student takes private lessons, be sure to talk to the teacher about choosing approved material.
- Coupon Book Fund Raiser: The fall Band Booster fund raiser was a tremendous success! Thanks to all who participated! Over 860 books were sold – an exceptionally good total, especially on a “non” trip year!
- Housekeeping – Band Store & Uniform Fees: Many HS students still need to pay for reeds, lyres, flip folders, etc. through the Band Store. Cash or checks are accepted; checks should be made to” BGHS Band Boosters”. Also, approximately 25 families have not remitted the $50.00 yearly maintenance fee for uniforms. As we begin the formalwear season, we will continue to have cleaning, replacement and repair expenses. If you are not sure that your fee is paid, please contact Mrs. Smith.
See you Saturday at the Parade!
